Cant Confirm Student data - screen is blank

The data confirmation part of the Parent Portal  runs on Silverlight 5.1 or higher.

to check your version do the following

Go to this link http://www.microsoft.com/getsilverlight/Get-Started/Install/Default.aspx

OR

On your computer  go to Start > Computer > Nameofdrive(C:) > Program Files > Microsoft Silverlight 

 

There is a file in there with a name like this " 5.1.20513.0"

 

That is the version number. If your version is not 5.1 or higher can you install the latest version of silverlight?

What if my student changes schools?

If your student changes school sites within Plumas County Office of Education or Plumas Unified School District you do not need to make a new parent account. 
The parent account will follow your student for the entire time they are enrolled within Plumas Unified or Plumas County Office of Education regardless to attendance location. 

Accounts for Each Parent

Parents do not need to share an account to use abi. 

Each parent can have a separate account as long as there are no court orders of non contact or other things that would prevent a parent for legally has access to a students records..

Each parent would need to sign the parent portal agreement and return it to the school.

Each parent  would need the same three piece of information.  (student ID, Verification Pass Code, and Student’s Home Phone Number from the student form in Aeries)

When the parents create the accounts there is a point where it asks which contact record belongs to the account (step 5 in the instructions).

As long as mom and dad each have a separate record in the Contacts in Aeries they can each make an account.  


Getting started

To create an aeries Parent Portal account you will need the following information:

  • a VPC (Verification Pass Code)                                                                                                
  • your student's permanent ID number
  • your home telephone number 
You can obtain this information from your school site after you have signed the parent portal agreement. Parent Portal Documentation

ABI Getting Started > Verifying your e-mail

Once the ABI account creation wizard has everything it needs to get started, you will see a page titled 'Step 3'.

At this point, close your web browser.

You will now need to check your e-mail for an e-mail message coming from abimailservice@abi.pcoe.k12.ca.us. The message should be received within a minute or two in most cases.

If you do not receive this e-mail within a couple minutes, it is likely that something is blocking the e-mail from getting through to you.
If you have any programs setup to block SPAM mail or junk mail, and/or move messages to a junk mail folder in some way, you will likely need to check this program and/or location to see if the e-mail from abimailservice@abi.pcoe.k12.ca.us was accidentally moved/deleted. This is the most common problem in the ABI login process at the start.

If you have a 'safe senders' list, or some other way of letting your e-mail application know that it should consider e-mail coming from abimailservice@abi.pcoe.k12.ca.us to be valid e-mail, you can do that ahead of time to allow the e-mail to go through without delay.

Once you receive the e-mail from abimailservice@abi.pcoe.k12.ca.us, you will simply need to click on the embedded link within the e-mail. This should then open a web browser window, update your account status to 'verified' on the ABI system, and continue on with the initial login process.

If your e-mail program does not allow you to click on the link to verify the e-mail, there will be instructions in the e-mail explaining how to manually verify your e-mail address.

Note: The e-mail that you receive for verification contains a 'Confirmation code'. This should not be confused with the 'Verification pass code' you receive from the school. The 'Confirmation code' is only needed if you need to manually verify your e-mail address. Whereas the 'Verification pass code' will be the code you use to associate a student with your ABI login.

common problems

The following list some of the most common problems, and/or potential fixes, to help you get going with ABI in case of trouble:

  • Enable cookies - ABI requires cookies to be enabled 

  • Browser up-to-date - ABI does well with the current major browsers. If you have an older browser (eg. Internet Explorer 5 or earlier, Netscape 4.x, etc...) - updating your web browser to a more current web browser will likely help solve some problems (recommended browsers are Internet Explorer and Google Chrome)

  • Enable popups from the pcoe.k12.ca.us domain - applicable more to teacher ABI logins, but there may also be a popup or two when logged in to ABI as a parent/student 

  • Symantec Security Console - this often causes problems with web sites requiring a login. If you are not able to get logged in to ABI, and have gone through the whole account creation process, try disabling Symantec Security Center to see if that solves the problem. If Symantec Security Console is the problem, you can look for an alternative, or disable while you are using ABI 

  • Add the e-mail address abimailservice@abi.pcoe.k12.ca.us to your 'safe senders' list, or optionally add it to your address book

  • Check your junk mail folder, or SPAM folder, for an e-mail from abimailservice@abi.pcoe.k12.ca.us if you do not see it arrive in your inbox

  • Earthlink users - the Earthlink e-mail system requires somebody at the district to actually respond to their challenge e-mail before Earthlink will forward on the message to the recipient. These challenge requests are not responded to.  If you are an Earthlink user, you can eliminate the problem by adding abimailservice@abi.pcoe.k12.ca.us as a valid sender of e-mail, which you will accept.

  • (Attention America Online Users)
    America Online users must not use their America Online email client during the ABI Parent Portal set up process. Specifically, America Online users must use their America Online webmail (not their AOL email client) to access their email during the ABI Parent Portal account set up process. Otherwise, the set up process will not complete properly.

Account Creation Failure

If you can not get your email to verify after following trouble shooting above contact support abihelp@pcoe.k12.ca.us 

If you have confirmed your email, entered your telephone number, student's ID and Verification Pass Code and it tell you it is invalid and you are sure it is correct contact support abihelp@pcoe.k12.ca.us

If you just cannot get it working and you don't know why contact support abihelp@pcoe.k12.ca.us

Please include the email address that you are using to create the account.
Your Student's ID number
Your telephone number
Your Verification Pass Code given to you by your school site office. 

Please Do Not Include your student's name, we do not need it to assist you.
