Dear Patwin Families,

On behalf of the staff at Patwin Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2017-18 school year!  Whether you are a new Patwin family or a returning family, the year ahead will be a rewarding experience for your child. Patwin is committed to cultivating an environment where everyone learns and belongs. Our staff and parent community support that vision which is why Patwin Elementary is such a wonderful place for children to learn and grow.  In partnership with our parents, we work hard to create an exciting and engaging learning environment for our students. Our Mission Statement was developed with input from staff, parents and other stakeholders.

Patwin Fosters a Learning Environment that Respects Diversity, Engages Students in Challenging, Creative and Collaborative Learning and Prepares Them to Thrive in the 21st Century.

This school year marks my third year as principal of Patwin, my thirtieth year in the field of education, and my 7th year in administration. I look forward to working with our Patwin parents and staff to continue working to make sure all of our children’s needs are met.

We give many thanks to our District staff and head custodians Feliks and Edit and the summer cleaning crew of Renee, Angelica and Elizabeth who have been very busy this summer making sure our campus is ready for the arrival of our students.  Our teachers have attended professional development trainings and have been working hard to prepare their classrooms for your student’s arrival.  Everything is progressing smoothly for the first day of school on Wed. August 23rd – Dismissal for 1st – 6th at 1:30.

We are welcoming Cyndee Nikzad as our new TK and math intervention teacher.  She has a dual major in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education from Utah State University. Cyndee comes to us with 13 years of teaching experience in both public and private school, teaching grades ranging from pre-kindergarten through 6th grade.  We are excited to have her here as part of our Patwin team.

The Paperless Parade is on August 18th from 3:30-5:30. This is an important day to come to Patwin to make sure you are fully registered and to find out who your child's teacher will be.  We will have tables of information regarding childcare, our lunch program, PTA, volunteering, as well as other opportunities offered at our school.

In order to streamline the process and make it more parent-guardian friendly we are staggering times for you and your child(ren) to come.  Times are assigned by last name and parents will receive each of their children’s placement cards at that time.

A-D arrive at  3:30

H-K arrive at  4:00

Q-T arrive at  4:30

E-G arrive at  3:45

L-P arrive at  4:15

U-Z arrive at  5:00

We look forward to a strong partnership between home and school to ensure our children will achieve their highest potential.  While our hallways and classrooms are currently quiet, it will not be long before the sounds of fun and learning take over once again. I hope you are enjoying the summer and we look forward to seeing you and your children on the first day of student attendance, Wed. August 23rd. Remember, dismissal is at 1:30 that day.
