Dear Patwin Families,

On behalf of the staff at Patwin Elementary School, I am happy to welcome you to the 2016-17 school year!  Whether you are a new Patwin family or a returning family, the year ahead will be a rewarding experience for your child. Patwin is committed to cultivating an environment where everyone learns and belongs. Our staff and parent community support that vision which is why Patwin Elementary is such a wonderful place for children to learn and grow.  In partnership with our parents, we work hard to create an exciting and engaging learning environment for our students.  Our Mission Statement was developed last fall with input from staff, parents and other stakeholders.

Patwin Fosters a Learning Environment that Respects Diversity, Engages Students in Challenging, Creative and Collaborative Learning and Prepares Them to Thrive in the 21st Century.

This school year marks my second year as principal of Patwin, my twenty-ninth year in the field of education, and my 6th year in administration. I look forward to working with our Patwin parents and staff to continue the work we started last year in making sure all of our children’s needs are met.

We give many thanks to our District staff and head custodians Feliks and Edit who have been very busy this summer making sure our campus is ready for the arrival of our students.  You may notice that our school has been painted and we also have new roofing as well as new wireless internet for our campus.  Our teachers have attended professional development trainings and have been working hard to prepare their classrooms for your student’s arrival.  Everything is progressing smoothly for the first day of school on Wed. August 24th.

The Paperless Parade, on Mon, August 22nd, is a critical day to come to Patwin between 3:30-5:30 pm to make sure you are fully registered and to find out who your child's teacher will be.  We will also have tables of information regarding childcare, our student nutrition program and volunteer opportunities.  Our PTA Board members will be available to tell you about what school functions they support and you can   learn more about  Patwin’s famous “Unfundraiser”. You may join the Patwin PTA and support the Unfundraiser that afternoon or on-line in the Patwin Store at .

Back to School Night is on Sept. 7th from 6:00-7:30 for parents only.  During that evening, you will meet our teaching team and learn about your child’s classroom and what to expect this school year.  Our PTA will be there to inform you of upcoming Patwin events.  This is also a time for you to meet the other parents in your children’s classroom and make connections for after school playdates etc. For your reference, please bookmark the Patwin Elementary website and the site – look for some re-vamping this year to continue to improve our communications, etc.

We look forward to a strong partnership between home and school to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential.  While our hallways and classrooms are currently quiet, it won’t be long before the sounds of fun and learning take over once again. I hope you are enjoying the summer and we look forward to seeing you and your child on the first day of student attendance, August 24th.

Finally, looking ahead, please mark your calendars for these upcoming important events.

Aug. 22nd - Paperless Parade 3:30-5:30pm – come to find out who your child’s teacher will be.

Aug. 24th - 1st day of school/Welcome coffee for parents after drop off in the Quad area

Tuesday, September 7th – Back to School Night (MPR) 6:00-7:30

Friday September 16th - Fall Festival (Quad) – All Families Welcome (no cost to attend/no need to RSVP)

The Patwin Annual Auction will take place on Saturday, March 5, 2016  at Stonegate Country Club, from 6:30 pm until 10:00 pm.

Grab a mate and come enjoy appetizers, drinks and desserts with your fellow Patwin parents.  Bid on the classroom baskets and classroom art auction pieces, as well as many other great items.

  • Doors Open at 6:30 pm, Appetizers & Drinks are served
  • Silent Art Auction Runs from 6:00 pm until 8:45 pm
  • The Live Auction begins at 9:00 pm
  • Winning Bidders Announced and Check Out at 9:30 pm
  • Abandon ship- 10:00 pm

The Spring Scholastic Book Fair is almost here! The book fair will run the week of March 16th - 20th. Stop by the book fair to buy some new books and help our school library at the same time!
