IDEAS
Current Issues Project: Based on 2004 AP Language and Composition Test Question:
In pairs, students choose a controversial issue of concern locally, statewide, nationally or internationally. Together they formulate a broad question about the issue. Students will create blogs tracking articles, editorials, survey results, postings, statistics and/or news stories that respond to their questions. Then using approprate evidence from opposing positions on the controversy, propose a solution or compromise.
ACTION:
1b Accomplished by students creating blogs that examined controversial topics such as SOPA, child pagentry, global warming, and the effects of television on remote societies.  Each blogger was required to present a solution to a problem as a final blog post.
 
1a Accomplished by teacher presenting clear and specific guidelines via project rubric and sample blogs.
 
2a. Accomplished by student use of online databases to reasearch topics and graphic design tools to create/enhance blog appearance.
