January 19 is National Popcorn Day
History says that people have known about popcorn for 9,000 years or more! There was popcorn at the First Thanksgiving thanks to the Indians introducing it to the Pilgrims. So we have enjoyed this healthy snack a long time! Popcorn grows just like the corn we see at the farmers market's but is a special variety. The shape and the color of the kernels as well as the shape after it pops is how to tell the variety.
Popcorn is naturally high in fiber and low in fat and free of sugar and sodium. Using as little oil as possible to pop it and adding a small amount of margarine or salt after it is popped will keep it healthy. Try sprinkling your favorite seasoning or parmesan cheese on it for a special treat. Enjoy a bag with each school lunch on this day.

$1.15 (full price) There is no charge for those who qualify for reduced or free breakfast/lunch.


Lunch
 Elementary - $1.70 (full price) Extra Milk - .40  (Milk is not free with a packed meal, even if approved for free/reduced meals.)
 Middle School - $1.80 (full price) Ice Cream - .50 or .75
 High School - $1.95 (full price) 

All menus reflect the new meal pattern. A complete price list is posted in the cafeteria of each school.


Any family can apply for free or reduced meals at any time during the school year. Applications are available at the School Board Office or at the individual schools. Turn the completed application in at any school cafeteria, the School Board Office or at the Food Service Office.

The automated phone calls are sent through the same system the schools use to notify families of important information. The system does not allow the student's name to be said during the recorded message for protection of the students. If you have any questions about the calls check your students balance online.
