PRCC has six two-bedroom furnished apartments that are used as housing for Pacific Rim Christian College students. No married or family housing is currently available. The apartments are located near the bus line, less than three miles from the PRCC campus. The dormitories accommodate up to nineteen students. Because of the limited number of spaces available, preference is given first to degree-seeking, full-time students from off-island; second to degree-seeking, part-time students from off-island; and third to degree-seeking, students from on-island, space permitting. Non-degree-seeking and audit students are not eligible for student housing.
To apply for student housing, incoming students must submit a housing application and application fee of $25.00 by July 1st for the Fall semester, or December 1st for the Spring semester. Returning students must submit a housing application for the Fall semester of the next school year by the end of the Spring semester each year. The housing application fee will be refunded only if no housing is available or if the student is not granted admission to the college. Housing applications will be good for the entire school year. Students moving out of student housing must give notice to the housing coordinator prior to the housing application deadline for the next semester or one month prior to vacating the dorm, whichever comes first.
Dormitory costs $3825.00 per school year, August through May, and is billed by semester. Monthly payment option of $425.00 may be requested. Monthly payments are due and payable at the PRCC Business Office on the first of each month. Any payments received after the 4th of the month will be assessed a $30.00 late fee.
Utilities: Electricity, water, internet service and basic cable TV are included in the rent. Phone service is not included.
A security deposit of $425 will be required along with the first semester rent or first month’s rent if on a monthly payment plan prior to the student taking occupancy in the dormitory. The security deposit will be returned to the student upon vacating the dormitory and upon an inspection of the dormitory to insure that there are no damages or missing furnishings. If any damages are found or any of the furnishings are missing, the cost of repairing the damage or replacing the missing items will be subtracted from the security deposit.
Parking at the dormitory is very limited and subject to availability. Students are encouraged to carpool or ride the bus, rather than bring a car. There is an additional fee of $35.00 per month to park a car at the dormitory, space permitting.
COMMUNITY HOUSING OPTIONS
In the likely occurrence that housing applications exceed space available in the PRCC dormitory, PRCC staff will be available to assist in the location of housing in the local community that will meet your needs. Students should be prepared to pay first and last month's rent when applying for housing in the community.
A room in a house or shared apartment runs from $400 - $600 per month.
A studio apartment typically rents for $700 - $1000 per month.
One-bedroom apartments rent for $800 - $1600 per month.
Two-bedroom units rent for $900 - $2000 per month.
Three-bedroom units rent for $1600 -$3500 per month.
Should space become available in the PRCC dormitory at a later date, students will be notified of the space available based upon whether the space is available in a men's or women's apartment, student academic load, and how long the student has been on the waiting list.
