Bears (Gr3)

Monday 2/6 we have our den meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Nayaug cafeteria and we will be planning for Grin and Bear It by planning our carnival games.  Parental involvement will be highly important for the actual carnival during the Pack meeting on March 9th so you can volunteer on Monday to help set up and learn how to help the Bears run the games.

Coming Up...

Sunday 2/19 Den Outing 1 p.m. Glastonbury Historical Society

Monday 3/6 Den Meeting, Nayaug @ 6:30

Thursday 3/9 Pack Meeting/Bear Carnival, Nayaug @ 7

The theme this year will be responsibility and initiative.  There will be home assignments routinely given in order to complete all of the requirements.  Unlike prior years where all the boys receive their belt adventure loops at the same time, we will be requesting that parents verify that their sons have completed all of the requirements before we submit to the pack for awards.  We will keep track of who has completed which requirements and will be fulfilling the vast majority at our meetings but, if someone is absent, it will be the boys' responsibility to complete the assignment at home with his family.

The adventures are similar to last year with 6 required adventures and one elective.  We will be voting on the elective in the Oct/Nov Den meetings.  It is important for your son and you to read through the book as we proceed from one requirement to the next.  One important difference from last year is that the "Fellowship and Duty to God" adventure (page 58) will be entirely done at home.  You and your bear can start reading anytime and let us know when he has finished so we can submit for an award at the following pack meeting.

In general, the first Monday of the month will be our den meeting from 6:30-7:30ish in Nayaug cafeteria.  When Monday is a school holiday, we have pushed it to Tuesday.  The pack meetings are on the second Thursday of every month from 7-8 p.m.
