Welcome to Sixth Grade-Room 101B-Ms. Douka


As the ELA and Geography teacher I am committed to facilitating the Common Core Standards and providing students with the tools to be academically successful.  Using various strategies and interdisciplinary units, I will provide powerful learning experiences for all my students.

  • To increase student acheivement on the MCAS exams.
  • To decrease the number of students retained.
  • To maintain a supportive environment for all students.
  • To ensure a  safe learning environment for all students.
  • To increase student involvement in school wide activities

  • Come to class with your binder, notebook, writing utensils (pen, pencil, colored pencils, markers, crayons).
  • Bring your planner to class everyday to record assignments, assessments and projects.  Important information and notes will be stapled into your planner during the first week of school to be used for future reference.
  • Homework will be posted in various places in my class and on the internet so,  NO EXCUSES "I didn't know."
  • Come to class prepared and willing to learn and work.  Put forth your best effort daily and do not disrupt the learning process of the class and others.
  • Please complete homework promptly.  Remember-Homework is crucial to your success
  • I understand that at times absences can't be avoided, but success happens when your present in class.
  • You are responsible to get or ask for your make up work (classwork and homework).  Check your absent folder, if it's empty do not assume there is no makeup work, please check with me.  Check the homework board in class, check my teacher webpage or ask a responsible classmate.
  • Test or quizzes missed due to absences will need to be made up in a timely manner.
  • Refer to the OMS Handbook on the policy for making up work.
