Welcome 5A and 5B

Class Goals

*      To increase student achievement on the MCAS exams

*      To provide lessons that support all learning styles and needs

*      To ensure all students a safe and welcomed environment that is conducive to their learning

Classroom Guidelines and Procedures

*      Come to class on time.  Three (3) tardies will constitute a detention.

*      Come to class prepared.  This includes your binder/notebook, pocket folder, silent reading book, “do now” writing journal, and writing utensils.

*      Only enter the classroom if there is a teacher or staff member is in the room.  Please line up outside the door and wait quietly and patiently until the prior class has exited the class.  Please be respectful of other classes in session.

*      Upon entering the classroom, please store all belongings in the desk

*      Bathroom privileges are limited to no more than three (3) per class, unless it is an emergency.  No more than one student out at the bathroom at a time.

*      Respect must be shown to all individuals in the room (teacher, staff member, classmates, and yourself), as well as, respecting the property of others.  This includes raising your hand when one has something to ask/share.  Failure to do so may result in a detention.

Projects, Tests, Quizzes, and Homework

*      Students’ knowledge will be assessed periodically in the form of projects, tests, and quizzes.

*      Grades for tests are 35% of a student's grade, and projects are 20%.

*      All tests will be announced in advance.

*      Homework is assigned on an “as needed” basis.  The majority of work will be done in the classroom, but students may be asked from time to time to complete an assignment at home.
