Reading

Reading at home can make a huge difference!
Students should be reading at least 15-20 minutes a day.
Students should choose books that are at an appropriate reading level.
*Use the five finger rule.  Open the book to any page and ask your child to read.  Put up a finger each time your child does not know a word.  If you have to put up more than five fingers before the end of the page, this book is to hard for your child.
Choose books that math your child's likes and interests.  Choosing books your child will enjoy reading will make reading fun.
Ask your child about the book he/she is reading to check for understanding.
