Room B9

We are a NUT FREE classroom this year

This includes peanuts and tree nuts. Please ensure that your child brings a healthy, nut free snack to eat each day in the classroom. Products containing nuts can be eaten for lunch as there is a nut free table for those students with allergies. Any student consuming products containing nuts will be asked to wash their hands prior to returning to the classroom.

If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact myself or Mrs. Schoemer, our school nurse at 508-987-6066. Please refer to the safe snack list if needed.

Thank you for helping to keep all students safe!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

It has been a great start to the year! We are working hard and learning how to have a growth mindset; the belief that our talents and abilities can be developed through hard work and perseverance. This can be a difficult concept for students to understand so I use the metaphor that our brain is like a muscle, the more we exercise it the stronger it will become.

Students are assigned homework regularly as a way to reinforce and support classroom learning. Homework should take approximately 45 minutes a night. If you find that your child is taking much longer to complete homework, please reach out to me. Please make a habit of checking your child’s planner each night and initialing it when they have completed their assignments.

It is my belief that students are most successful when teachers and parents work closely with one another and maintain an open line of communication. In order to support that belief, I  utilize the Remind app. and ClassDojo in my classroom. These programs allow for me to share photos, notices and important classroom information with you in real-time. If you have not yet signed up, I would highly encourage you to do so.

We are off to a wonderful year full of learning and fun! I look forward to working with you and your child as we help them to grow as a friend, a reader, a writer, a scientist, a mathematician, a thinker, and so much more! Please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns at any time.

Respectfully,

Mrs. Jessica Torteson-Allen
