I have been working hard with Mrs. Ryder, our library volunteer to update our library collection to reflect the needs and interests of our students. We have gone through all books and have pulled all outdated books. Unfortunately, these were the majority of our books. I would like the library to be an exciting place to visit that draws students in, is a source of pride for the school community, and encourages a love for reading in even the most reluctant readers.

We desperately need to fill our library shelves with new, exciting books, both fictions as well, as nonfiction.  The Barton PTO has helped out tremendously by providing us with scholastic dollars made through the book fair to replenish our shelves.  However, there are only so many books one can buy from Scholastic.

I have created an Amazon WISH LIST created directly from student requests.  If you would like to help, visit our Library Wish List on Amazon.com to choose a book to purchase. You will find an extensive list of books Barton students would love to see on the school’s library shelves. The list includes a variety of titles, reading and interest levels as well as a wide range of price points and is updated regularly.  Once you've made your purchase you or your child can bring the book to the school library or you may choose to have Amazon ship it directly to the school (just make sure you add a gift note so we know who it is from).

A personalized bookplate will be placed in the book stating that it was donated to the library in honor of your child. What a great way to encourage young readers while adding to our school’s library collection!

Here’s how to get started…

Another great site in which has a great selection on books is the Book Outlet.  Here is the link:  CLICK HERE

The Clara Barton children and Staff thank you in advance for your help and support.
