Club Code of Conduct

All participants in Oxford Touch activities are expected to adhere to the following values and code of ethics and conduct:

To:
  • Respect the rights, dignity, differences, and worth of every person regardless of their gender, ability, cultural background or religion.
  • Display courteous characteristics and not to harass, or direct foul language at, other players, coaches or officials.
  • Encourage honest and open competition.
  • Share failures and celebrate success.

Player Code of Behaviour:
  • Play by the rules at all times.
  • Exhibit exemplary sporting-like behaviour at all times.
  • Play equally intensively for yourself and your team.
  • Show respect for all other players, no matter how good or bad they are. Without them there would be no game.
  • Respect the decisions of officials at all times.
  • Enjoy the game by giving your best at all times.
  • Co-operate with your coaches, team mates and officials.
  • Be conscious that you are seen as a "Role Model" to new players.

Coach Code of Behaviour:
  • Teach your players that the rules of the game are mutual agreement that no one should try to evade or deliberately break.
  • Be reasonable with your demands on players, their time, their energy and their enthusiasm.
  • Avoid over playing and/or training your players.
  • Ensure that equipment and facilities meet safety standards of the age, sex and ability of your team.
  • Demonstrate respect for all your players no matter what level of ability they possess.
  • Do not swear at or abuse players.
  • Develop respect for the ability of your opponents, referees and all officials.
  • Make a personal commitment to keep informed on sound coaching principles and abreast of current trends.
  • Be conscious that you are seen as a "Role Model".

Referee Code of Behaviour:
  • Display fairness and uniformity in applying the rules.
  • Be honest in your assessment of situations.
  • Be consistent, courteous in calling all infractions.
  • Condemn the deliberate foul as being unsporting, and promote fair play and appropriate sports behaviour.
  • Use common sense to ensure the "spirit of the game" for players is not lost by being too pedantic when applying the rules.
  • Be conscious that you are seen as a "Role Model".

Committee Code of Behaviour:
  • Ensure on and off the field behaviour of all club participants is consistent with the principles of good sportsmanship and this Code of Conduct.
  • Ensure that equal opportunity for participation in touch is available to all regardless of ability, size, shape, sex, age, ethnic origin or disability.
  • Provide opportunities aimed at improving the standards of playing, coaching, and officiating, with an emphasis on appropriate sports behaviour and skill technique.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities are safe and appropriate to the ability level of all the participants.
  • Be conscious that you are seen as a "Role Model".
