6th Grade Science/Social Studies Agenda

Week 1 - This week we will review ancient Mesopotamia and finish discussing the empires of Assyria, Neo-Babylonia, Persia, and Phoenicia.

Week 2 -

Monday - Ch. 3 test in S.S., Ch. 1 Lesson 4 Review in Science

Tuesday - Common Assessment and Ch. 1 Lesson 4 Quiz in Science

Week 3 - This week we begin talking about ancient Egypt and comparing/contrasting their culture and achievements to those of ancient Mesopotamia.

Week 4 - This week we begin talking about interactions of organisms. This is found in Unit 2 of their science e-book. This unit discusses all the ways that animals interact with each others for resources. We will discuss how energy moves through an ecosystem and what makes up an ecosystem. Finally, we will discuss relationships between organisms living in the same area.

Week 5 - This week we continue to talk about food webs and energy pyramids. The students will be constructing food webs of different world biomes, watching videos over how energy is transferred through ecosystems and answering questions.

Week 6 - This week we begin discussing how population sizes change and what factors may cause that change.

Week 7 - This week we finish discussing unit 2 in science covering predator/prey and symbiotic relationships. We will have a test over this unit this week.

Week 8 - This week we will continue discussing ancient Egypt culture. We will finish the chapter this week and have a test over chapter 4 next week in social studies.

Week 9 - This week we will test over ancient Egypt and work on TNReady review before Christmas Break.
