Another great Outdoor Ambassador's meeting this week in Patos. We weeded the pumpkin patch, counting over a dozen flowers on the vines so far. We picked the last of this year's blackberries and discussed healthy snacking. Finally, we had a lengthy discussion about the proper care and treatment of dogs. My family's puppy "Lordi" was a good natured co-instructor today, helping show how dogs live in family groups, show emotions with their faces, hear better than they see, and love to romp and play with their family, just like people do. Three of our members were slightly frightened of dogs before the lesson. Afterward, all the children said they would like to have a puppy live with their family. I call that progress!"

On Monday, July 22nd, 2013, some of the kids of Patos spent the morning planting pumpkin seeds in anticipation of their 2nd Annual Halloween Party coming up in October. Last years event was without pumpkins, so they decided to plant some of their own. The children learned about proper planting procedures, and finished the day with ice cream.

Outdoor Ambassador members in Sarande took part this past weekend in a PCV project that taught dental hygiene to a Roma village outside of town. The members successfully led and assisted with the lessons. It helped further their own personal presentation and leadership skills, as well as showed the Roma that their own country men care too. See the Club Spotlight to find out more information about this great group!
