Our Loving Children Walking for Autism Speaks in Kansas City

From Lacey, Co-President of Our Loving Children...Today I walk for Jack. The challenges - the rewards of autism. The little milestones that scream big progress. I join a community of families who start as strangers yet instantaneously bond due to this unique connection. I walk thinking of the therapists and teachers who have become like family. Each one has walked a portion of this road with us and hold a special place in my heart as they work tirelessly to help Jack reach goals that seem so distant. I walk being grateful for Our Loving Children for being a continued support network and unbreakable friendship. Autism has taught me unspeakable patience and unconditional love. It has given me strength to advocate without fear. But mostly, the art of functioning on minimal sleep and knowing that God's mercies are sometimes disguised.

KIMT reports on FDA ruling on Autism!!

Great news on KIMT! FDA ruling to help crack down on those trying to give substandard care for families desperate for help. There isn't a quick cure but there are ways to help. The only therapy that is scientifically proven to be effective at addressing the needs of an individual with autism spectrum disorder continues to be ABA directed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA). Visit the Board Analyst Certification Board (BACB) at http://www.bacb.com/ to see if there is a quality provider near you!

KIMT News 3- The Food and Drug Administration says they are cracking down on those who say they have a quick cure for Autism.

The disorder now impacts 1 in every 68 children in the U.S. and that number could be growing. Autism is also one of the fastest growing serious developmental disability. We talked to an expert in this field who told us more about the condition. “At this time, unfortunately we do not have a cure. There is no cure for Autism, however there are a number of things that can help, that can help with symptoms,” Therapist and Physiologist Sharon Davern said.

Davern also told us that you need to talk to your doctors before doing any treatments.

A big THANK YOU to our Mason City Walmart for supporting Our Loving Children and for awarding Our Loving Children with a $1500.00 check! This will go a long way in helping us to fulfill our mission of providing advocacy, education, resources, and support to those impacted by autism or special needs!  THANK YOU WALMART!!!
