Welcome to Support Class

In class students will benefit from small group direct instruction to support their IEP goals and objectives. Students will participate in lessons that support their grade level curriculum. Concepts and skills will be introduced and modified to best meet the student’s learning styles and needs. Concepts and skills covered in class include:

  • Addressing IEP goals
  • Assistance with curriculum assignments
  • Organizational skills
  • Pre-teaching and re-teaching of curriculum concepts
  • Study skills
  • Progress monitoring
  • Test taking skills
  • Time management / Goal setting
  • Individual learning needs

In addition, the student’s progress is closely monitored in collaboration with the support staff including reading instruction teachers, speech/language pathologists, guidance counselors, social worker and school psychologist.

Parent Portal: There are no tests or quizzes in Support Class, as this is a class to enhance skills and achievement. Students are graded on participation, preparedness, and effort. We encourage you to check your child’s progress consistently in their academic classes. If you need help accessing the parent portal, please let me know.

Class Page: All teachers at AMD have a class page. Your child has been shown in class how to access it. Important information, assignments and resources are posted on these class pages and I would encourage you to visit these webpages often.

I look forward to working in partnership with you and your child. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me.
