8th grade

The Career Exploration course for eighth grade is optional. It is a suggested addition to our electives program to encourage students to explore various CTE and CTE related programs at Oregon School for the Deaf, and determine students' interests, and/or career abilities. The course contains opportunities for students to develop digital literacy by use Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Modeling (CAM) programs with our six new 3D printers. In addition, this course facilitate students to develop soft skills essential for career readiness and employment down the career pathway.

The course objective is to encourage students to develop digital literacy skills in preparation to achieve their career goals before entering high school. Students recognize the programs offerings at Oregon School for the Deaf include Construction Technology Academy.

Career Exploration is a course to help students identify and evaluate personal goals, priorities, aptitudes, and interests with the goal of helping them make informed decisions about their careers. These courses expose students to various sources of information on career and training options and may assist them in developing job search and employability skills.
