Welcome to Oroville School District

Welcome Letter from Superintendent, Jeff Hardesty

It is an honor to have been selected to serve the Oroville community as superintendent of schools, a responsibility I do not take lightly. I carry with me a strong sense of duty and passion for building meaningful learning experiences for students.

During the past eighteen years as a middle school and high school teacher, a middle school vice principal, and a high school principal, I have found success in working with communities to build healthy school programs.  I have the belief that responsible communication and  trusting partnerships with community members is needed to accomplish this productive work.

Over the years I have learned the importance of taking the time to be thoughtful and factual about decisions, and defining problems well before rushing to solutions.  I have found success in expecting those in our organization to do the same.  In doing so, I understand the value in sharing multiple perspectives and also creating opportunities for others to share in these ideas, so that decisions are made responsibly.

Most important to me as an educator, is ensuring that district goals are set to meet the needs of all students.  All students, means all students; in this, I do not waiver. To ensure delivery of programs that meet the needs of each student, I place a keen focus on developing systems that help empower staff to use time more effectively,  help staff to thoughtfully examine problems and multiple perspectives, to measure and celebrate growth, and to help inform staff about decisions for instructional improvement.

To further our mission to provide all students quality learning experiences, I hope that you might share your ideas, feedback and or concerns with me.  Please,  feel free to contact me at any time at the Oroville School District Office at 1-509-476-2281.

Again, I am honored and excited to serve as the superintendent of Oroville School District.  I look forward to working in and with our community as we define and develop a meaningful education for our Oroville children.

Jeff Hardesty

School closure information due to poor weather will be reported here with additional information being provided on our transportation page. We rarely delay or cancel school because of poor weather due to our trained bus drivers, the city and county crews clearing bus routes efficiently on questionable days, and most of us are accustomed to driving in wintery conditions.
