Creating an Account and Channel

The first time you use YouTube, you need to setup your video channel and connect it to your Google Apps account. Once you've done this, you only need to login using your Google Apps account.
  1. Go to YouTube.com
  2. Click Sign-in
  3. Sign in with your Google Apps account
  4. Click on your username/email in the upper right and select My Channel
  5. Click Make me a new channel!
  6. Fill out the form and click Next (note: the username is publicly visible)
  7. Sign-in with your Google Apps account again and click Link Accounts


Uploading a Video

From a Computer

  1. Go to YouTube.com and sign-in
  2. Click Upload, located in the upper right
  3. Click Select files from your computer
  4. Find and select your files (hold down Ctrl to select more than one), then click Open 
  5. Fill out the video's information
    • If you want to post your video online, but do not want it to be found in the public search, choose the Unlisted privacy setting.

From an iPad/iPod/iPhone

  1. Tap the Photos app
  2. Go to the video you want to upload
  3. Tap the arrow icon on the bottom left
  4. Tap Send to YouTube
  5. Login with your Google Apps username and password
  6. Input title and other info
    • If you want to post your video online, but do not want it to be found in the public search, choose the Unlisted privacy setting.
  7. Tap Publish

YouTube enables users to create playlists of videos, both your own and videos by others. See How do I make a Playlist? for two methods for adding YouTube videos to a playlist. Playlists can be embedded on your class website.

Enabling Safety Mode

To prevent inappropriate content from displaying while using YouTube, scroll to the bottom of any YouTube page and enable Safety Mode.
