Family Resources Support Personel Communication Plan
Communicating student progress with parents is a goal and priority in Orono Schools. Teachers and parents collaborate throughout the year, so that appropriate educational plans are developed in order to ensure that students are demonstrating proficiency and making adequate progress in order to meet end-of-year targets. In September, parents are invited to a Curriculum Night. At that time teachers share information about the core literacy program and end-of-year targets for the grade level.

District assessments are administered in September of each school year. Parents have access to that information in SchoolView by October. Fall assessment data is used to make determinations about which students qualify for Multi-tiered Systems of Support. Parents are notified in late September or early October if students have qualified for reading support outside of the classroom. Teachers communicate with parents at the Fall conference to ensure that assessment results are understood and to develop an instructional plan for accelerating reading growth. Progress is monitored to ensure that adequate gains are made and that the instructional plan is impacting and accelerating learning.
