 OIA RENOVATION PROJECT

Learn more about the OIA Renovation Project! Read about it below and download the brochure, sponsorship chart and pledge form at the bottom of this webpage.

After 20 years of serving our children, it is time for the local hockey community to make the following repairs and improvements to the facility:
  • Shrink the Rink – reduce the size of the ice sheet from Olympic size to NHL size to ensure that Orono hockey players are playing, learning and practicing on the same type of rink as virtually all competing associations. This project will begin mid May.
  • Replace and Upgrade the Refrigeration and Dehumidification Systems. These systems are 20 years old and have required increasing amounts of maintenance in recent years. Prudence dictates that they be replaced.
  • Improved Locker Room Facilities and Dryland Training Facilities. Orono does not have ideal high school locker room facilities, any shower facilities or sufficient bathroom facilities in the locker rooms, nor does Orono have space for dryland training and non-ice warm-up areas. By shrinking the rink and expanding the footprint of the facility, there will be room for both of these improvements.

Shrinking the rink from Olympic size to NHL size is already fully funded by donations, but the rink needs your support for the rest of the repairs and improvements that are needed for the the facility. We have all benefited from the generous donations that built this rink for our children in 1997. We ask that you please take the time to read the attached brochure, sponsorship chart and pledge form to learn more about this important project.

Please reach out to us at arenainfo@oronohockey.org with questions or call Pete Eckerline, OIA Renovation Chair, at 612-867-8371.

 TEAM INFORMATION

SALT SALE FUNDRAISER

OGH holds a salt sale fundraiser twice per year as the main source of raising funds for the JV and Varsity programs. The money raised supports expenses for meals for away games, end of season banquet, bus/hotel/food on the out-of-town trip, equipment and coaches. Everything the boosters do is about improving the experience for the players and coaches. If you are trying out for high school hockey in the fall, we ask for 100% participation in the fundraisers. Each player is expected to sell a total of 150 bags. If you don't sell in the spring, then your quota is 150 bags in the fall. If you choose not to sell salt or if your players does not sell a full 150 bags, it is expected that you cover the profit from selling salt by paying the $375 buy-out contribution (or $2.50 per bag not sold).

Spring orders are due no later than April 14. No late orders will be accepted. Your order should include checks and the attached tally sheet.

Salt will be available for pickup and delivery on Saturday, April 29, 2017. If you have questions, contact Bob Neuberger at bneuby@gmail.com.

PARENT VOLUNTEERS
All parents are expected to volunteer to support the team. Once the season begins each family will sign up for 2-3 Sign-up Genius Volunteer spots.
