*The Future Problem Solvers have completed and mailed their spring challenge, coral reef decline. As part of their action plan, the Future Problem Solvers have decided to hold a Coral Reef Information Night at our school on May 11, 2012 from 4-6pm.
For 2011-2012, the Future Problem Solvers group attempted two challenges. For the fall, students investigated the relationship between technology and overwork. They identified causes and effects, brainstormed solutions, and created an action plan for a fictitious family. To complete their challenge, students needed to practice working in groups and conducting research. Images of their work products and process are shown in the slideshow.
Students' plans were mailed out on Friday, January 13, 2012 to the NCFPS organization.
Our focus for the remainder of this year will be on coral reef bleaching and its effects on marine ecosystems. If you are knowledgeable in this area and would like to share your knowledge with our students, either in person or through Skype, please contact me. Check back for the results of our research!
