What is Horizon 2020?

Horizon 2020 is the largest ever European Union Research and Innovation programme. Horizon 2020 will run for 6 years from 2014 to 2020 and will distribute €80 billion in competitive funding to universities, SMEs, non-profit organisations and a host of other entities.

The aim of Horizon 2020 is to tackle some of the challenges facing society today - from health to environmental to industrial challenges - as well as promoting growth and creating jobs in the EU.
The SME Instrument

One of the ways that Horizon 2020 will fund the translation of research into products is an initiative named the SME Instrument. The objective of the SME Instrument is to fund small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to bring new and innovative products to the market that will address societal challenges.

OncoMark were successful in our SME Instrument application and were awarded €2.7 million by the EU in 2015 to develop the OncoMasTR prognostic assay for breast cancer. This assay will improve the care of breast cancer patients.
