Our Garden Coordinator

Garden Coordinator Jodie Visker has been growing vegetables for almost 20 years.  She is a master gardener and former art teacher.  In addition to the Onalaska School Gardens, Mrs. Visker also manages a volunteer project where she and Onalaska High School students tend a 1,000 square foot garden called the Ona Community Garden.  This garden provides hundreds of pounds of produce to the local food pantry, WAFER.  She also coordinates three other garden projects in the Onalaska area.

Mrs. Visker's goal as Garden Coordinator is to teach kids where food comes from, encourage kids to eat more vegetables as a means to better health and to incorporate the garden lessons into the district's science curriculum.

In January of 2014, Mrs. Visker was awarded the "Healthy Living Hero Award" from the La Crosse County Healthy Living Collaboration for her work teaching children to garden.
