We have some new games and activities planned for kids and visitors to our Bee Fest Celebration on August 20th.
The event will run from 10 am till 2 pm (4 hours) in the front parking area of the Omaha indoor Flea Market on 72nd and Q st.
We need ALL of our members to step up and not only bee there at the event, but we need them to sign up to run activities and games and to do presentations while we are there.
Furthermore, we need to spread word to as many people as we can to come attend the event. We will be interviewed on "Ultimate Outdoor Show" on KFAB radio at the end of July to promote this. We need to get fliers made and distributed, word of mouth and any other ways our members can promote our flagship event of the year.
Here is a list of games and activities and the items to make those happen. We are hoping one or more members will step up and "adopt" a game/activity and purchase/donate the things needed to do them.
Feel free to team up and make any of these games/activities your own for that day for you and or your team.
Bee Toss - Toss bee bean bags into flowers to see how many points you can get. Items needed: game "flags" and bean bags. This game has been adopted by Tony Sandoval and family. We have two of these we will set up.
Pollen Toss - Toss 3 "pollen" colored bean bags or tennis balls into 9 cups/"cells". We need someone to adopt this game.
It requires bean bags or tennis balls and plastic drink cups (clear).
Nectar Transfer - a "bee" transfers nectar from one "cell" (cup) into another "Cell (cup) using their proboscis (straw) in time. We need someone to adopt this game. It requires clear plastic drink cups and non-flexible drinking straws.
Hive Defender - "Bees" must defend the nest from the 'target' by stinging them with magnetic darts. We need someone to adopt this game. It requires a picture of a bear and a magnetic dart set.
We will have a craft table for kids to make bee related crafts. We will need paper, glue, small paper plates, kid safe scissors, colored pencils, crayons and any other art items you can think of This is a Club-wide activity. Hopefully each member will contribute something to the craft table.
There will be an information table where visitors can get information about the Omaha Bee Club, get memberships forms, join the Bee Club, etc... We will need members to take turns staffing this table.
We will have two presentations about bees, beekeeping, pollination, etc to offer visitors. One in the first half of the event and one in the second half. We need at least 2 members to do those presentations. An observation hive will be available that day to assist in those presentations.
