¡Bienvenidos al teatro! Welcome to the theater!! My students know how much I love to have different themes in the classroom each year. Last year our focus was on being an "Active Participant" in all aspects of their lives with a special focus on doing things for our family and friends, our communities, our state and our planet. The beginning of the year was focused on the theme of "town" and for the Spring it was the Amazon rainforest. This year I decided to turn the focus on my students. Last year the focus was on what they are giving of themselves willingly, not expecting praise or special gifts. This year the theme is "Shining your light", what makes YOU shine?, what makes you happy? And of course I thought of Stars, and thus the idea for a Cinema and Hollywood Stars. We will be using the language to talk about some interesting facts about Cinema history in our country, fun behind the scenes moments from some of our most loved movies, and see short clips from different film through the decades. Each of these special movies exists because someone used their imagination to create something magical. Someone believed in themselves and allowed their creativity to shine. We will emphasize on the importance of being creative and using your imagination, not being afraid to have new ideas, not to fear failure, to persevere and believe that anything you imagine and truly work hard for, can become a reality. This theme will run until November with the start of the celebration of Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead). A holiday that celebrates the lives of those who have gone and keeping their memory alive. For Christmas I will of course decorate my room with Christmas decorations including my large Christmas tree!!! In the Spring keeping with our "Shining your light" theme and Stars, the room theme will be Outer Space!! We will learn about the planets and stars, the moon, and many fun in-class crafts. The emphasis will be on reminding them that every star, no matter how small, matters and exists for a reason. Each child is a gift, a wonder, a bright light that needs to be acknowledged, loved and nurtured. I will make sure to add new photos periodically so you can see the updates in the room. This year promises to be one filled with joy and discovery having fun with different language and culture activities in an environment that is warm, safe and challenging.

The structure of daily activities is carefully planned to encourage independence, self-confidence and group cooperation through large group, small group and one-on-one participation in a variety of classroom experiences. The activities will incorporate instruction and skill reinforcement in using the language in speaking, reading and writing, fine and gross motor skills, social/emotional skills and language development.

Hoping all have a wonderful school year!!
