The Old School complex is situated in the coastal village of Sully, situated between Barry and Penarth in the Vale of Glamorgan. It comprises a new hall with adjoining dressing room/committee room and two further meeting rooms in part of the original 19th century school building, the George Woods and John Williams rooms. The hall and the three rooms may be hired individually or together for regular meetings or one-off activities and functions. The venue is not suitable for wedding receptions due to catering restrictions.
With its differing size rooms, The Old School complex is suitable for a wide range of users. Current users include a thriving bridge club, yoga classes, a slimming club, music and drama groups and many voluntary organisations, whilst the Blood Service visits regularly. The complex is particularly well suited to conferences and seminars, when the main hall is suitable for plenary sessions while the three smaller rooms can be used for break-out sessions. We can also provide additional equipment and services for hirers, by negotiation.
The complex has space for approximately ten cars in the forecourt, with additional parking available in lay-bys on to either side of the Old School.
The building is within easy reach of the neighbouring communities of Lavernock, Dinas Powis and Wenvoe, as well as Barry and Penarth. If you have ideas or plans for an activity that might be of interest to your community, please contact us and we may be able to help by offering you low cost trial bookings.

We are looking for volunteers!
The Old School in Sully has been in operation for over 20 years since its opening in 1996. During the intervening years its popularity has steadily grown to a point where weekly visitor numbers now often top the 1,000 mark. It is managed and run by a group of volunteers from its users and the village, and we are looking to swell their number in order to maintain this important village facility as a flourishing community asset.
Could you spare one hour once a week, or perhaps once a fortnight or month, on a pre-arranged rota? It’s a flexible system, so that if for any reason you cannot make it on the agreed day, we can find a substitute. We need people to be onsite for an hour to pick up phone messages, take details of any potential hirers and show them around, and to give the building a quick walk-around to check that all is well. If you think you might like to help, ring Ian on 02920 530441 or email email@example.com
Alternatively, do you enjoy a bit of light DIY in the company of like-minded friends? If so, come and join our monthly Saturday morning work party. Every third Saturday morning, the Gardening Society looks after the outside areas and our work party spends a couple of hours attending to any minor repairs, adjustments or improvements to the building to keep it in good shape. It’s not too strenuous and we always enjoy a leisurely break for coffee and biscuits. If you’d like to help, contact Richard on 02920 531894 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
