Seventh Grade Cellular Organization

Cellular Organization

1. Students will observe that different organisms appear similar under a microscope. They will try to tell if the specimen on the slide came from a unicellular or multicellular organism.

2. Students will understand that sectioning and staining of a specimen can change the appearance of cells and tissues. They should be able to identify the nucleus, cytoplasm and the cell membrane in the animal cell specimens.

3. Students will learn how to prepare a wet mount slide. They will identify the structures of plant cells including chloroplasts, cell walls, cell membranes and the nuclei.

4. The students will observe the cellular effects of osmosis.
