Track & Field Coaches

 Paige Brunner - Head Coach

Coach Brunner is in his 14th year at Oak Hill. He was a three time State Qualifier in track and cross country while also playing two years of basketball at Marion High School.  Coach Brunner earned a scholarship for track and cross country to Auburn University competing for coach Ralph Spry and Layne Anderson.  He was a member of the Auburn Tiger's 4th place National Championship team at the 1999 NCAA Outdoor Championships.  Coach Brunner transferred to Indiana University in 2000 and earned his Bachelor degree (Kinesiology) in 2003. He began his coaching career as an assistant coach under Hall of Fame Head Coach Charlie Warthan at Bloomington High School North (During his two years as an assistant the Boys Cross Country and Track Programs won a combined 4 IHSAA Sectional Titles, 4 IHSAA Regional Titles, 1 IHSAA Semi State Title, 4 Top 10 IHSAA State Finals Finishes, and produced 1 IHSAA Individual State Champion). Coach Brunner now is a PE and Health teacher at Oak Hill Jr/Sr High and serves as the Boys & Girls Cross Country Coach, Boys & Girls Track Coach, and Boys JV/Varsity Assistant Basketball Coach.

- Cross Country and Track teams have combined to win 77 Grant 4 (34), Conference (30), IHSAA                         Sectional (8) and IHSAA Regional (5) Championships
- Boys and Girls Cross Country teams have appeared in a combined 16 IHSAA Semi-States and 22 IHSAA             Regionals
- Teams have earned 3 top 25 finishes at IHSAA State Finals

- Coached 2 individual State Champions, 2 individual State Runner Ups, 6 All State Podium Medalists, 
          3 All Americans, and 1 Indiana Miss Track & Field Athlete of the Year

- Coached 5 Indiana senior all stars (cross country & track)
- Coached a combined 24 Oak Hill athletes in cross country and track to 36 IHSAA State                                      Finals appearances and 29 new school records
- Coached athletes to a combined 217 All Conference Performances, 60 Individual Sectional                       Championships, and 10 Regional Championships. 
- Named Indiana Coaches Association Boys cross country Class 1a-2a State Coach of the Year                        in 2004, 2005, 2006
- Nominated for Indiana Coaches Association Boys cross country, Girls cross country, and Girls track State         Coach of the year 10 times

- Sent 32 athletes to compete at the college level in cross country and track

coach sommers is a graduate of indiana wesleyan university where she earned a bachelors of science degree in nursing.  she is originally from buffalo, new york.  she competed for four years with the indiana wesleyan track and field teams and was named a nccaa all-american three times in track and field.  coach sommers claimed four collegiate school records in the indoor and outdoor long jump and triple jump while competing for the wildcats.  She became on of the first female athletes in IWU history to qualify and compete at the NAIA national level.  Her triple jump record has stood for over 20 years at Indiana wesleyan university.
