The Oak Hills Counseling Department wants to ensure that our students are physically, mentally, and emotionally safe. Oak Hills offers support groups, facilitated by our Counselors and School Psychologists, based on the needs of our student body and offers a list of Community Support Services for additional references. If you or someone you know needs help, please do not hesitate to contact someone in the health care profession. If you don’t know who to contact, see your counselor, school nurse, a trusted teacher, or another trusted adult.
Stress and Test-Taking Anxiety Resources
Oak Hills’ support groups offer students an opportunity to identify with their peers and gain support from one another by building trust, working through daily stressors and targeting strategies to facilitate positive outcomes.
Peer Mediation is available to all students at Oak Hills High School who are having difficulty with another student or a group of students. Peer Mediation provides students with the opportunity to problem solve through their issues face to face with the help of trained peer mediators. Peer Mediators are OHHS students in grades 9-12. No adults are present during mediations; however, they are in close proximity. If a student is interested in going through a peer mediation session they can contact their house counselor or their principal.
Students in grades 11 and 12 serve as peer mentors/tutors. Most student tutors are from the National Honor Society. Students can be referred for tutoring by a teacher, parent, counselor or themselves. Contact Amy McNabb at email@example.com to refer a student for tutoring.
The Oak Hills community and the Greater Cincinnati Area offers additional support services that may benefit your specific situation. Click here for a listing of Support Services and their contact information.
