Sun & Moon Poetry Festival

The Ohio Poetry Association invites you to join us for the third annual Sun & Moon Poetry Festival, September 13-15, 2019, in Yellow Springs, Ohio.

We are partnering with Glen Helen Ecological Institute to welcome poets and poetry lovers from all over Ohio and beyond to celebrate nature and the cosmos through the art of poetry. The weekend will be full of workshops, readings, and an opportunity to immerse yourself in the beautiful setting of the Glen Helen Nature Preserve.

Jim DanielsOur keynote speaker will be Jim Daniels, poet and Thomas S. Baker University Professor of English at Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. Jim Daniels is the author of seventeen poetry books, including, most recently, Rowing Inland and Street Calligraphy (2017) and The Middle Ages (2018). He also is the author of six collections of fiction, four produced screenplays, and has edited six anthologies. His poems accompanying the photographs of Charlee Brodsky have been displayed in many art galleries and collected in two books. His poem "Factory Love" is displayed on the roof of a racecar. In 2020, he will be sending poetry to the moon as part of the Moon Arts Project.

Jim will be leading an exclusive workshop for a limited number of attendees and will give a special reading on Saturday, September 14.

Workshop leaders for the weekend are renowned Ohio poets: Ruth Awad, Dionne Custer Edwards, Terry Hermsen. There will also be a special haiku workshop led by Joe McKeon. We'll also have open mics, special meals, and more.
