Best Practice:


What we do at Youngstown State University:
  • We use .AVI uncompressed but the file sizes we find are to large. MPEG-2 works well because, though it's a lossy format, it preserves individual frames from the video, so editing can still be done with some precission. Wit other lossy formats some frames are left out in the compression process. We have just started to work with MPEG-4, so I don't know yet about this format.
