What is QuiltFest?

The Ohio County Historical Society and The Sunshine Stichers Stitchers are pleased
to host the annual Rising SunQuiltFest.

Originally, long time residents, Betty Ann and Lloyd Pavy, hosted an annual quilt show in their quilt and furniture store in Rising Sun.  When the Pavys retired, the Ohio County Historical Society continued the tradition.  In 2002, QuiltFest initially exhibited 35 quilts from the community and the Historical Society collection.  By 2008/2009, there were 98 quilts.  Cash prizes were instituted, and the show included vendors, classes, art quilts and art items.  Although the show has relocated several times, it is always in Rising Sun.  In 2014, the event returned to the Rising Sun History Museum.

About our Community

Rising Sun is a small thriving community, rich with history, just beyond the next bend on the Ohio river.  Founded in 1814, we celebrated our 200th birthday in 2014. Visitors are always welcome. With a rich history, a vibrant museum, a genealogy library and cemeteries dating back to the 1700s, there are many reasons to explore our past.
Rising Sun has a riverfront park with beautiful vistas in every direction that inspires the artist in
everyone.  Risk takers seeking fun and adventure will find their goals met in zip lining, seaplane rides, canoe and kayaking, and the exciting Rising Star riverboat casino.   There are several shops, restaurants, as well as plenty of parking and overnight accommodations within easy walking distance of the Museum.
