Building a CMS on top of NoSQL: lessons learned with HBase and friends

Outerthought is the maker of the Daisy CMS since quite a few years, but set out for a next-generation content repository product little more than a year ago. Our new (open source) product Lily is built on top of Apache HBase and SOLR. In this presentation, we want to explain you about the design decisions we made, how and why we choose our NoSQL solution, some pitfalls we encountered, and some general lessons learned during our development so far.

Steven Noels is founder and managing partner of Outerthought, maker of content application frameworks on the crossroads of REST, scalability and Java. Steven is a frequent speaker on topics of content management, NoSQL and open source, and lives in Belgium in the beautiful city of Ghent.
