8th Grade and Prep Students please hand in your permission and medical forms and your money to me as soon as possible. They were due before break. Remember, please use an envelope or a baggie with your name on it. If you are not planning to attend, I still need a note from your parent.
I will hold solo auditions for the following pieces during class next Wednesday and Friday. Prep students, we may wait until Friday to start.
The Lion Sleeps Tonight
Hallelujah (can be in either octave, chose what is best for your voice)
Over The Rainbow (this is split into 4 solos, if you are unsure of the splits, see me!)
Congratulations to Prep choir on their superior ratings in both their adjudicated pieces and sight-reading. All your hard work and dedication has clearly paid off!
On Friday, March 18th, Prep Choir students traveled to Louisa County High School to compete at District Assessment. They had to sight-read and sing 3 pieces in front of judges and received a Superior rating! These students have been working very hard since January to learn this difficult music in mixed and changing meters. I'm am so very proud of them!
In addition to Prep Choir's success at assessment, the every other ensemble in Orange County also received a superior at assessment! We were the only county in our District to do this. Great things are happening in the OCPS's music departments!
Today, 8th grade and prep students were given information sheets for OCPS's Fine Arts Festival. (This sheet is also uploaded to the Documents and Forms page of this site.) On Friday, March 18th, 8th grade and prep students will travel to the high school to rehearse and sing with the high school choir students. They will rehearse in the afternoon, enjoy a performance by OCHS's OC Singers, and then sing in a concert with LGMS and OCHS choir students as well as band students from PHMS, LGMS and OCHS.
For this performance, students will need to purchase a Fine Arts Fest T-shirt ($7 cash or check made out to PHMS). They will wear their fine arts fest t-shirt and blue jeans for the concert.
The concert will start at 7pm. The choral portion should be over around 7:20, parents may take students home then or stay to enjoy the bands. If you have any further questions, please email or call Ms. Sommar.
We have started our Yankee Candle Fundraiser! Please check the fundraiser information page for more information!
