Welcome back to school parents and students!  This site is intended to help keep you up-to-date on events and activities that may be of interest to you and/or your student.  If you are interested in having notifications sent to your phone through, please follow the steps listed below:  

A, If you have a smartphone, get push notifications.
    On your iPhone or Android phone, open your web browser and go to the following link:
    Follow the instructions to sign up for Remind. You'll be prompted to download the mobile app.

B.  If you don't have a smartphone, get text notifications.

24 Math Regional Tournament

The 24 Math Regional Tournament will be held in the PHMS gymnasium on Thursday, April 20th.  Doors will open for registration at 5:15.  Play will begin at 6:00.  No competitors will be seated after 5:50.

Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School Important Dates

Following are the dates of the final elements of the application process:  

Interview Workshop:  January 20 during exploratory in room 202B
Standardized Testing Workshop:  January 26 during prep in room 202B
Interviews:  February 1st and 2nd all day in the front office conference room
Standardized Testing:  February 6th and 7th in the PHMS library starting at 8:30
Performance Task Writing Assessment:  February 16th during exploratory.

UVA Summer Enrichment Program

The University of Virginia Curry School of Education is offering an exciting opportunity for students currently in grades 4-10:  the 2017 Summer Enrichment Program.  The camp is a 12-day residential experience.  Students live on grounds at UVa and attend classes as a nearby private school.  If you are interested, applications are available online (at and from Mrs. Graves in room 202B.  Application deadline is February 15, 2017.

National Geographic Bee

It is time for PHMS's annual National Geographic Bee.  

All students will be taking a qualifying test in their social studies classes during the week of November 14-18.  The tests will be scored and the top 30 scorers will participate in an oral preliminary elimination on November 29th.

The top ten finalists from the preliminary rounds will participate in our school level National Geographic Bee on December 13th at 8:45 a.m.  

October Parent Information Night: Supporting Identified Gifted Learners
