The Local Scholarship Application
  The local scholarship application is an application that Orange County High School students can submit in order to apply to a variety of locally sponsored scholarships. This year the application will be filled out and submitted online.

The application for the 2016-2017 school year has closed check back February 2018 for the 2017-2018 application

Germanna Community College
Students who plan to attend Germanna should make an account with Germanna's online scholarship system, OASIS (Online Automated Scholarship Information System) to apply for scholarships through Germanna.  For more information, see Germanna's scholarship website.

Local/ Virginia Scholarships


Florence S. Dorsey Memorial Scholarship
  • To apply, the student must be a resident of Orange or Madison County and must meet the following requirement: be a high school senior in pursuit of higher education, or a student already enrolled in the first or second year of a college, university or vocational school.
  • The application is due to April Taylor (ataylorgg66@gmail.com) by January 26, 2018.

The George E. Allen Scholarship
  • Applicants must be a senior in a Virginia high school planning to further their education through college, nursing, business, trade, or technical training.  The scholarships are in the amount of $1,500.
  • Requirements: application, personal statement, 2 references, transcript (or other record of academic achievement)
  • The application is due by March 1, 2018.  Pick up a copy of the application in the counseling center or print the application here
Belmont Club of Women (OCHS Scholarship)
  • This $1,000 scholarship is open to any OCHS senior who is planning to pursue some form of post-secondary education (trade school, 2-year or 4-year college or university).
  • Requirements: Application, Essay, Transcript, 2 letters of recommendation
  • Must be postmarked no later than March 15, 2018

Belmont Club of Women: The Judith Mckee Memorial Scholarship
  • This $1,000 Scholarship is for seniors planning to pursue a career in Nursing, Health Care, or Medical Professions.
  • Requirements: Application, Essay (reasons why they have chosen a career in the Nursing, Health Care, or a Medical Profession), Transcript, 2 letters of recommendation
  • Must be postmarked no later than March 15, 2018
  • Pick up application in counseling center
Central Virginia Electric Cooperative Scholarships
  • This $1,000 scholarship is for any high school or home school senior graduating in 2018 whose parents pr guardians are consumer-members of the Central Virginia Electric Cooperative & whose primary residence is served by the cooperative.

  • The application is due February 6, 2018.
The VMDAEC Education Scholarship 
  • Applicant's primary residence must receive its electric power from one of the 15 member electric cooperative served by Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware Association of Electric Cooperatives (VMDAEC).  Applicant must be a senior graduating in 2018 and planning to enter his/her first semester of post-secondary education in the fall of 2018.

UVA Community Credit Union Local Scholarship Program
  • This scholarship provides a $1,500 need-based scholarship to a graduating senior from OCHS.  The student must be planning to attend a 2-or 4-year accredited U.S. college or university in the fall of 2018, have a GPA of at least 2.5, and must not be a child of an employee/ board member of the UVA Community Credit Union.

Virginia Mayflower Society Scholarship
  • This scholarship is looking for high school seniors enrolling in an accredited university who have an average GPA of a 3.0 or higher (B average).
  • Requirements: Resume, Sponsor Letter, Transcript, Essay
  • All application components are due by March 19, 2018 to James H. Maloney (1763 Bluff Mountain Rd., Madison, VA 22727 or mayflower@maloneylaw.com)

The Community Foundation Scholarships 
  • The scholarships are available online at this link beginning November 15 and due by 11 PM on March 14, 2018.  
  • There are numerous different scholarships with varying criteria - check out the website to see which scholarships you qualify for.  
Lake Youth Foundation Scholarships
  • The scholarships are for high school seniors residing in the Lake of the Woods who have volunteered their time to better the community.  Applicants must have a 2.5 GPA or higher and must have been accepted to an accredited 4-year, 2-year, or trade school.
  • Applications are due April 27, 2018.
William A. and Alma A. Scholarship Fund
  • There is a scholarship for students attending a 4-year school and students attending 2-year school or technical school.  Students must demonstrate academic achievement and have an unmet financial need.
  • Applications are due April 13, 2018.  Pick up an application in the counseling center or print here (2-year application or 4-year application).  
Janice M. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund
  • Applicants must have 3.0 GPA or higher, plan to attend an accredited 4-year college/university, demonstrate leaderships ability, and have financial need (the combined adjusted income of parents cannot exceed $50,000).  
  • Application is due March 31, 2018.  Pick up a copy of the application in the counseling center.
George Washington Carver Regional High School Alumni Association Scholarship
  • Scholarships will be awarded in amounts of $1,000 for students planning to attend a 4-year institution and in amounts of $500 for students planning to attend a community college or vocational school.
