BIBLE 6

COURSE DESCRIPTION

First, I want to welcome each of you to 6th grade Bible! I am very excited to be teaching you God's Word this year, and looking forward to what you bring to our classroom experience. Each of you has something to add to our class, so please bring your questions, experiences, concerns, and eagerness to learn more about Jesus! Wherever you are, whether the beginning of your learning about the Bible or you have known about Jesus & God's Word all your life - you have a place in our classroom and discussions. Each person brings something new and special to our year together.

Second, I am sure you are wondering what you will be learning about this year. Our class will be centered around three books of the New Testament: Romans, Hebrews, and Revelation. However, we will not be in only these books, but will also see how these connect with the whole book of the Bible.

As your teacher, I believe in a 'Sola Scriptura' view of the Bible, which means 'From Scripture Alone.' I believe God's Word is enough to teach us about Him, His plan for our life, ourselves, and about the world. This also means that I would like you to come prepared with a Bible (preferably a hard copy). If you do not have one, we will provide these for you!

Once again, I am looking forward to spending this year with each of you!!

GRADING

Grading will be the same as all other classes at OCSI. Students will have a variety of assignments, activities, tests, and in-class opportunities to earn points contributing to their grade. If there is at any time a concern or confusion, please contact me at: ryanbaumgart@ocsi.org.

P.S. - I try to keep all assignments/grades in the classroom. Therefore, it should not be expected that students will have much homework unless they were unable to complete the work during our class time.

Textbook

The textbook will be the students Bible and DOES NOT need to be covered. A Bible will be provided for all students. The Bible must be brought to all Bible classes, as well as chapel.

(There are Bible resources such as biblegateway.com and blueletterbible.org that can also be used if a paper copy is not available.)

*Preferably the NIV/ESV/or NLT translations. This makes classroom discussion easier.

MATERIALS NEEDED

Blue or Black Pen

A Journal

A binder and/or folder to keep assignments in.
