Welcome to Ms. Yabe’s class!
I am very excited to see you all again in my classes! After taking a break from teaching and working on base as a translator/interpreter for10 months, I have decided to come back to OCSI. This is going to be my 6th year of teaching at OCSI. I am originally from Ibaraki, Japan, where I went to schools up to university. After I graduated from the university, I moved to Oklahoma to study, where I spent 5 years. I studied at Oklahoma Christian University (OC) and majored in English/TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) with minor in Child Development for 3 years. I loved there so much that I made good memories and great friends. I was going to work as an ESL (English as a second language) teacher after graduating from OC; however, God provided me a different way, which is to go on to the next level of studying. I went to University of Central Oklahoma to pursue a Master of Education in Bilingual Education/TESL (Teaching English as a Second Language).
I was planning on staying in America after completing my degree in 2010, but it did not work. One day, I was looking for a job online and typed "international schools in Japan" and OCSI came up. I went to the OCSI website to see if they were looking for teachers and they were! I strongly felt that God led me to the website so that I could know about OCSI. God surely provided me this great job opportunity at OCSI and I truly believe that this is God's calling. I also believe that God has a purpose and great plans for me at OCSI. I am excited to see what God has planned for me! :)
I like talking and laughing with friends, driving, reading, coffee, grapefruits, beach, sunsets, photography and traveling. This summer, I went back to my hometown and spent time with my family and friends. I usually travel to Singapore and Cambodia to participate in a mission trip called "Love and Serve" to help Cambodian children, but I didn't get to go this time so I really hope to go back to Cambodia some time soon to see the kids again. :)
