Scholarships 2017/2018

                   The menu on the side bar shows the scholarships that are available at this time for St. Pius X Graduates.  

                        In some cases, the student must submit an application to Mrs. Chiarelli and the Graduation Awards Committee.  In other cases, the applications are to be mailed directly to the group providing the scholarship. Read the instructions carefully!
            
                        Be sure to read the information posted about each award and follow the steps required.  Applications can be downloaded from each descriptor page. 

                        Award amounts may be subject to change.

                        Each requires a completed application cover page, a resumé, and any additional requirements.

 Marion Dewar Scholarship Fund Candidate must be an immigrant or refugee and demonstrate school or community involvement, have a minimum 80% average and be able to meet all of the requirements for an OSS diploma by the end of the current school year and be pursuing a degree/diploma/certificate from an accredited post-secondary institution in the National Capital Region.  $1500 to 3 students in the National Capital Region Applications due postmarked by

 Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program Particular focus,will be given to students who h

ave demonstrated special dedication to pursuing a career in the skilled trades;

  Ontario Knights of Columbus Bursary Program Presented to a student who has financial need, has served his/her church and community and is a member, son or daughter of a member of the Knights of Columbus.  $1000 to 5 recipients in Ontario  May 1, 2018  to the

 Lincoln M. Alexander Award This award is given to young people who have shown strong leadership in eliminating racial discrimination $5000 to two students in Ontario May 4, 2018 to Mrs. Chiarelli in A408
Sylvester Quinn Memorial AwardThe criteria for this award is service to others, scholastic achievement, strong moral and ethical values and financial need. $600

National Bank of Canada Award Presented to a student who is planning to take a post-secondary program in either college or university. Student must write a short essay on managing debt while in University or College.

 Shepherds of Good Hope Graduate Student Volunteer Award Given to graduating student who has demonstrated dedication in volunteering at school, church, or in the community and positively impacted the community by volunteering time.     $500 (and participation in the Shepherds of Good Hope Hunger Banquet) to 1 student in the school board May 4, 2018 to Mrs. Chiarelli in A408
 Edward J. Cuhaci & Associates Architects Award Presented to a student who is planning to take a post-secondary program in the design/architectural studies field at college or university     $1000 to 1 graduate in the school board May 4, 2018

 OHF Bursary Program Given to graduating student who has demonstrated dedication in hockey and in the community     $1000 to 29 athletes May 11, 2018 directly to the OHF.
 Ron Larkin Educational Fund  Presented to a student living in an Ottawa Community Housing community who is planning to pursue some form of post-secondary (COLLEGE, UNIVERSITY or TRADE SCHOOL).  Student must write an essay on their educational and life goals and get two reference letters as well as filling in the application form. 10 awards of $1000 to students who live in OCH  Mail or email to the address on the 
form or drop off at a OCH office no later than 4:30 pm on 
June 29, 2018.
Your Credit Union for Overall Achievement AwardPresented to a student who has demonstrated strong work ethiccommunity or school involvement and in need of financial assistance to pursue education goals whether at college or university level.      $500 to one student in the school board May 1, 2015 to Mrs. Chiarelli in A408
The Black Canadian Scholarship Fund  This award is given to a black Canadian student from Ottawa who has demonstrated leadership in the community and financial need and has achieved at least 75% average in 6 U or M courses. $6000 to two university bound students in the National Capital Region June 1, 2017 to the address

Workers Health & Safety Centre Scholarship Award This award is given to a student who will be starting full or part time studies in the Fall 2013.  Applicants must submit an essay or poster along with the application.$1000 each to 8 students in Ontario June 2, 2015 by 4:00 pm to the
email on the application (See award

Professional Engineers Ontario Ottawa Chapter Scholarship FundThis award is given to a student with an interest in pursuing a career in engineering as a licensed Professional Engineer.  Applicants must submit a school transcript and an essay  along with the application.  $500 each to 2 students in Ottawa TBA . . . Usually mid June
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul AwardGiven to graduating student who is involved in his/her parish and school, is a practicing Catholic and has been accepted for studies at St. Paul University.  $5000 for a student in the Ottawa Catholic School BoardBefore 4:00 pm on June 7, 2017.
