September 16-17, 2016

Held in NYU’s Health Science Corridor in New York City, the symposium will host invited thought leaders from diverse health policy, research, education, and clinical practice systems and will provide a forum for disseminating effective evidence-based national initiatives and models that advance integration of oral health and overall health into emerging person-centered care models. Public and private stakeholders with leadership roles in policy, education, practice, and research will propose education, practice, evaluation, and policy strategies, models, and guidelines needed to achieve this goal.

  • Examine systems opportunities and barriers for advancing integration of interprofessional oral health competencies as a standardized component of clinical education and practice
  • Evaluate research evidence from initiatives assessing the impact of medical-dental integration on delivery system change, population health, and consumer engagement in whole person care
  • Address quality and cost models that promote interprofessional collaboration and achieve high-quality and cost-effective oral health and overall health outcomes
  • Determine how academic, clinical, business, and government leaders can collaborate to drive action that advances integration of oral health with overall health
