LSHV has openings for summer legal interns in most of its locations, for the period of June 2016 through August 2016. We are seeking individuals who share our mission of providing free

civil legal services to those who qualify in our service area, and are we are committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse group of highly motivated and qualified individuals to reflect the populations that we serve. Although this is an unpaid internship, many of our students have qualified for Public Interest Scholarships offered by their law schools and other organizations. In addition, we will consider flexible scheduling requests to accommodate those with other obligations.

Interns will be under the supervision of admitted staff attorneys and attorney managers, and will be provided with learning opportunities in a wide variety of practice areas including landlord/tenant, domestic violence, government benefits, children’s advocacy, and family law as well as helping those who are members of the veterans, elder, LBGTQ and special needs populations.

LSHV receives the majority of its $14 million in funding from federal, state and local governments and in return generates approximately $25 million in taxpayer savings by avoiding long-term welfare costs. Privately raised funds enable LSHV to establish innovative programs, initiate new collaborations, meet growing needs, and broaden the organization’s impact.
