Thank for your application and continued interest!
This unofficial page seeks to answer questions typically asked by candidates who have been wait listed. Candidates are also urged to read our Frequently Asked Questions page, for more information regarding our process.
Why is there a waitlist?
A waitlist is maintained primarily because there are more qualified candidates than there are available seats in the program. The waitlist consists of both interviewed candidates and those who are ranked as eligible but have not yet been interviewed. We would like to fill all the seats, therefore if an admitted candidate withdraws before the start of class, we will review our waitlist and consider those already interviewed or will be interviewing additional candidates in order to fill that vacated seat. A waitlist is also maintained when all interview slots are currently filled. When more slots open up, or additional interview dates are scheduled, candidates will be selected and invited from the waitlist.
Where am I on the list?
Although everyone starts off with a preliminary rank, this rank has no bearing on the final outcome. The admissions committee often re-visits the application files to re-evaluate, view updates and discuss candidates. This may result in a change in the rank and even the status of a candidate. As such, it is our strict policy not to provide this information.
How many candidates are on the list?
This is also information we will not provide due to the same reasons indicated above. This number will change as more candidates are accepted and as some withdraw.
When will I hear from you? What is the status of my application?
Some candidates will hear from us in March, April, May 2025 as more interviews are planned. Any additional interviews after that will be on an as needed basis. However, this interview waitlist will be maintained until August 15, 2025 to ensure that every available seat in the program is offered to a qualified candidate. Once that date has passed, all those who are waitlisted will be notified that they are no longer in contention for admission (which is categorized as a Denial on CASPA). We reserve the option to narrow down the waitlist prior to August 15.
Invitations to interview, if any, will be sent by email, via CASPA. If you have not received an updated email from us, your status is still "Waitlisted". Do check your inbox and spam folder regularly. It may be tempting to repeatedly contact the admissions personnel for updates but please refrain from doing this. However, an occasional "continued interest" email (without attachments) is very much welcome and are noted.
How can I make my application stronger?
While we cannot advise individual applicants on the specific strengths and weaknesses of their application, we do welcome you to upload additional documents to the Program Documents section of your application (as outlined below). The documents are of your choosing but these could include unofficial transcripts, documentation regarding additional health care hours, copies of awards, additional letters of recommendation, statements of continued interest etc. The committee will view these documents when evaluating candidates for any further interviews.
How do I submit additional documents/information?
The Admissions Committee members will only view updates if they are uploaded through the CASPA portal (to the Program Documents section of your application). Our FAQ page provides guidance on how to upload. The committee will view these documents when evaluating candidates for any further interviews.
As the number of upload slots are limited, it is best to combine multiple documents into one PDF with a coversheet detailing the contents. Once the slots are filled, it will no longer be possible to submit additional documents. Unsolicited mailed/emailed/faxed documents cannot be accepted and will have to be discarded due to logistical reasons. Therefore, please hold off on sending official transcripts unless requested. Unofficial transcripts may be uploaded to CASPA as outlined above.
The portal for uploading documents is usually closed by CASPA on April 1. After the portal is closed, documents may only be submitted if requested by the program. If invited to interview, candidates will have another opportunity to submit additional documents.
New York Tech is my first choice college, but I just received an offer from another program. Can you tell me my chances before I respond to the offer?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict the chances of any candidate on the list. The percentage of waitlisted applicants who will eventually be admitted depends on how many will decline our offer of admission or withdraw from the program in the coming days, weeks and months. It is a number that varies from year to year. Since we cannot know in advance how many spaces will become available, we will not be able to estimate or guarantee your chances. Due to this uncertainty, we strongly advise applicants to accept offers received from other programs. You can remain on our list even if you have been accepted elsewhere. However, it is a kindness to inform us if you are no longer interested in attending our program, as it will benefit the others who are also awaiting a decision.
Can I get started on my Financial Aid while being wait listed?
It is a good idea to complete your FAFSA application while on the list, if FAFSA is already accepting submissions. This will enable our Financial Aid office to process your file more quickly if you are offered a seat. Thank you again for your application and we truly appreciate your patience and continued interest !
