1 If your college provides quarter credits, enter it exactly as your transcript lists it, when inputting the information in your CASPA application (as outlined here). To calculate whether your quarter hours will satisfy our minimum semester credit requirements, divide your quarter credits by 1.5. The course will still be acceptable if there is a deficiency of less than 0.5 credits from the published requirement.
2 AP credits are acceptable only if the following criteria are met (regardless of whether they were accepted as transfer credits at your college):
the credits were completed within 10 years of the year of intended matriculation in our program,
a minimum score of of 4 or 5 was received, and
an unofficial College Board transcript or report must be uploaded to the Program Materials section of CASPA.
3 A&P I can only be combined with A&P II in order to get a full semester of Human Physiology and Human Anatomy. A standalone Human Anatomy can only be combined with a standalone Human Physiology.
4Algebra is not mentioned on our prerequisite list on CASPA, but we do accept it.
5Online courses, including labs, are acceptable for the 2020-2021 and subsequent application cycles, in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
All prerequisites must be taken at a regionally accredited institution in the US or Canada within the last 10 years. For example, if applying for entry in Fall 2024, courses taken in or after 2014 are acceptable. About regional accreditation: https://sites.google.com/a/nyit.edu/prerequisites/home/regional-accreditation
College level courses completed in high school are only acceptable if a transcript from the original college is provided, indicating the minimum grade. The transcript, with the letter grades, must be forwarded to CASPA. The 10-year limit is still applicable.
Prerequisites do not have to be taken at the same college as your degree.
If a lab is not mentioned for the prerequisite, it is not required.
Summer/Winter/Intersession courses are acceptable, if they carry the same number of credits as Fall or Spring courses.
The following cannot be applied towards, or used to waive, any of the prerequisites:
Clinical work experience or experiential learning
Placement tests
CLEP
Transfer credits unless a transcript with the original grade is provided to CASPA.
Each course can only applied towards one prerequisite.
PENDING PREREQUISITES: Applicants must have at least 8 out of the 12 prerequisite courses completed by our application deadline. The remaining four must be listed as pending or planned on your CASPA application, and only two of them can be pending as late as the spring of the intended year of entry.
First, check if your course is listed in the 'acceptable' or 'not acceptable' lists above.
Only if it's not already listed, you may inquire whether it fulfills our prerequisite. To do so, please email pa@nyit.edu and include the following information in the body of the email (not as an attachment):
