Q &A
The session will likely begin with a pre-interview question and answer session with our director of PA admissions. It will be assumed that you have watched the infosession video beforehand.
Essay
The Q&A will be followed by an essay writing component.
The essay question will be shared with you upon arrival. If you did not receive the essay question, alert the host by emailing pa@nyit.edu or by clicking Leave Room to join them in the main room.
Please set your document editor program to page sized 8.5x11 with 1-inch margins, Arial font sized 12, single-spaced. This setting will provide guidance on the length of the essay.
The essay should ideally be from 1/2 to 3/4 page long, based on the above setting. Please try not to go over one page.
When ready to submit, please copy and paste the essay into the body of an email and send it to paadmissions@nyit.edu and a copy to zahmed01@nyit.edu
Subject Line: LastName, FirstName_ Essay (e.g. Smith, Jane_Essay)
DO NOT SEND AS AN ATTACHMENT.
Please wait for a confirmation, to ensure that your essay has been received. If the candidate leaves the interview without submitting the essay, they will receive a zero score for this component of their scoring.
There is no time limit for the essay, so please feel free to take your time.
Interview
While writing your essay(s), you will be pulled out into a separate "room" for a 15-20 minute interview. The interview will be conducted between one candidate and one or two members of our admissions evaluation team. Once completed, please click "Leave Room" and you will be placed back in the proctored essay-writing room.
Discussion with students/alumni
Before leaving, you may have a chance to meet with our students and/or alumni for an unsupervised conversation about their experiences. They will be joining you all in the essay-writing room. As the essay is not timed, you are welcomed to stop writing and participate in the chat. However, if you would prefer a quiet environment to write your essay, please feel free to lower or turn off your device volume.
Before logging off
Before logging out of the session, check that ALL of the following are completed:
You have been interviewed
You have received a confirmation email that your essay was received.
Questions
At any point, if you have questions, feel free to click Leave Room and join the host in the main room. You can then click Join Breakout Room again at the bottom of your screen, in order to return to the essay room.
