Cadre meeting 1 - Open House - Jan. 28

OPEN HOUSE --
Administrators Invited!

This workshop is open to NWRESD area school administrators. (Yes, teachers can come too!) This is a great opportunity to dive into a classroom setting using the latest technology to see what a tech-enabled teaching environment looks like. Our focus is on communication using digital media so everything we do will be useful right away when you get back to your building. If you only have one day of technology training this year, make this your day and join your teacher cadre team for the day.

What to bring:
Please bring a laptop computer for all sessions. We'll have extras if you don't have one so don't let this stop you.

Movie tutorials from cadre meeting #1

Sharing folders:

Here is a YouTube video showing how to share folders between Google Apps domains. If you wanted to share a folder just within your own school, it's just as easy, just share with groups and/or users.

Finding clipart:
During our cadre meeting we talked about several ways of finding clipart and photographs for use in newsletters and on web sites. This video shows how to use three of my favorite sources for legal images.

Making a newsletter with clipart:
Using sites like Openclipart.org, it's easy to make a nice newsletter. In this short video, we'll learn how to insert clipart and move it around on the page.

Publishing a newsletter on another web site:
There are several ways to publish your newsletter created in Google Docs. One way is to publish a link to the document and another is to export the document as an Adobe PDF file. This video will demonstrate both ways.

Publishing a newsletter to Google Sites:
Publishing a newsletter or any Google document on a Google Site page is easy. This short video shows you how to create a page and then insert a document (newsletter).

Publishing using Google Sites and the Announcements Page:
It's easy to make posts on the announcements page and have them show up automatically on other parts of your Google Site. This video shows you how to do that. As updates are made to the pages, the main page is updated automatically.
