Second Grade Class

Hello Everyone and Welcome to Second Grade!

I am your teacher, Mrs. Gonsalves, and this is what I look like. Now I might look a little different on your computer screens, where you will probably be seeing me as we start this school year virtually for distance learning. We will all have to get to know each other through our computer screens at first. We will sign into a Google Meet with our special class code and then begin our day with our attendance and announcements. We will then continue with our live math lesson first and small group practice. Then we do our reading and language lessons with our small groups following that. We will go to our specialist classes next. On Mondays we go to Library. On Tuesdays it is Music. On Wednesdays and Thursdays we go to P.E. and on Friday it is our Humanities class for Science/STEM. After that it is lunch time! When lunch is over we come back for phonics and writing. Our last class is either science, health or social studies, depending on the topic we are learning about. Dismissal is at 3:16 everyday. Hope we have a great second grade year!

Mrs. Gonsalves

I am also going to be pasting the links to our daily real time lessons and our specials classes here as a back-up in case you are still having trouble with log ins or passwords:

Please read the following letter from our administration about the beginning of the new school year.

August 13, 2020

Dear Roadrunner Families,

Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Aggie Roberts Elementary School. We hope that you are all doing well and that students are ready for school to start! As you may know by now, all students in the Clark County School District will be attending school via Distance Learning and no students will be permitted to attend school in the building until further notice. That being said, our staff is working diligently to prepare the best virtual learning environments for our students.

As shared at the end of last school year, our Principal, Ms. Harbin has retired. Though she still stops by the school now and then, tying up some loose ends with us, we are fortunate to also have a substitute administrator who is helping our school until the new principal is hired. Ms. Calman is a retired CCSD administrator and brings a wealth of experience, knowledge and energy to our school. She has been instrumental in helping our families get access to Chromebooks and the internet. Please join us in welcoming Ms. Calman to the Aggie Roberts community.

Aggie Roberts and the Clark County School District are committed to doing everything we can to making this Distance Learning experience a smooth transition for our families. Included at the end of this letter is some helpful information for the school year. Additionally, we will be hosting the following opportunities to connect our school with our families in preparation for the first day of school:

• Virtual Parent Orientation #1: Tuesday, August 18, 2020 from 5:30-6:30 p.m.

• Virtual Parent Orientation #2: Thursday, August 20, 2020 from 9:00 a.m.-10:00 a.m.

• Deployment Day: Friday, August 21, 2020 from 9:30 a.m.-l:30 p.m.

• School-wide Virtual Meet and Greet: Friday, August 21, 2020 from 2:15 p.m.-3:15 p.m.

• Additional Virtual Meet and Greet: To be scheduled by classroom teachers

These events are intended to give you as much information as possible to prepare for this school year. More details will be provided on the specifics of each of these events. In the meantime, please refer to the back of this letter for more information about the beginning of our school year:
