Thomas DiSabato, born and raised in New York 1961, started dancing at the age of 8. He attended Nassau community College as the first male accepted into the dance department but decided to leave after one year when he auditioned and was accepted at the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center on a full scholarship, where he now still attends yearly Horton Pedagogy Workshops. Thomas has performed professionally as a dancer for over 25 years in many companies and shows throughout the U.S., Europe, the Bahamas and Japan. He has taught dance throughout the years in New York, Phoenix and Las Vegas in various studios as well as for DEA and DMA throughout the country. In 1999, he was hired by CCSD as a para-professional guest teacher/choreographer at the Las Vegas Academy. Deciding to retire from performing he attended UNLV and graduated with a BFA in Secondary Education/Theatrical Arts before joining the staff of the dance department at LVA. Mr. DiSabato also holds a B&I license in Dance Performance. He continues to live by "If you have to ask why I dance, you wouldn't understand me at all."
The LVA Dance Department strives to create an environment where each young adult is treated as a creative individual, with the desire and need to succeed. Individuals will be given the freedom to explore and develop their craft through education, technique, and creative exploration. We welcome and encourage all to push beyond their limitations, accept who they are and to take risks.
