UMRIDA - Uncertainty Management for Robust Industrial Design in Aeronautics
Contract number: 605036

UMRIDA is a Level 1 collaborative project within the European Commission's Seventh Framework Programme. It involves a consortium of 21 partners from the industrial aeronautics sector, leading research institutes and universities as well as SME's.

The UMRIDA project (Uncertainty Management for Robust Industrial Design in Aeronautics) on Uncertainty Quantification (UQ) and Robust Design Methods (RDM) aims at a paradigm shift in virtual prototyping away from deterministic design and towards a design under uncertainties, providing not only a mean result but a domain of confidence for a given design quantity. The project aims at bridging the gap from current State of the Art at basic research level to a Technology Readiness Level where large numbers of simultaneous uncertainties can be treated in analysis and design.

Upcoming UMRIDA Workshop on Robust Design - Brussels, September 2016

The UMRIDA Workshop on Robust Design (RD) with focus on application of RD methods applied to the industrial test cases accounting for a large number of simultaneous uncertainties will be held at Vrije Universiteit Brussel, in Brussels, Belgium from September 20th and 21st 2016.

A series of test cases such as rotors, wing-bodies, high-lift systems and airfoils are open to participants from outside the consortium.

Participants from academia and industry are welcome to participate in the quantitative challenge on one or several of the proposed test cases or to contribute with their work on the application of robust design in engineering practice.

Third and Fourth UMRIDA Progress Meeting

The third and fourth progress meeting were hosted at TU Delft, The Netherlands on April 13th and 14th 2015 and at CIMNE in Barcelona, Spain on October 5th and 6th 2015 respectively. The work on uncertainty propagation techniques is nearly finished and the consortium focuses its efforts within the last year of the project on Robust Design methodologies applied to the unique UMRIDA database with prescribed uncertainties.

UMRIDA Workshop on Uncertainty Quantification

The UMRIDA Workshop on Uncertainty Quantification with focus on application of UQ methods accounting for a large number of simultaneous uncertainties wil be held at TU Delft, The Netherlands from April 15th and 16th 2015.

A series of test cases such as rotors, wing-bodies, high-lift systems and airfoils are open to participants from outside the consortium.

Participants from academia and industry are welcome to participate in the quantitative challenge on one or several of the proposed test cases!

Second UMRIDA Progress Meeting

The second progress meeting (PM 2) was hosted at TU Dresden, Germany on October 6th and 7th 2014. The construction of the unique validation database with prescribed uncertainties on a series of industrial challenges could be finalized.

First UMRIDA Progress Meeting

First progress meeting (PM 1) was hosted on April, 3rd and 4th 2014 at INRIA in Sophia-Antipolis (France). This was also the occasion to drive the construction of a unique validation database with prescribed uncertainties on a series of industrial challenges forward.
